Frequently Asked Questions
Saunas — The Basics
What's the difference between far infrared and full spectrum?
Far infrared saunas emit longer wavelengths that gently heat the body at lower air temperatures. Full spectrum adds near and mid infrared, covering a broader range of wavelengths. Full spectrum is more versatile; far infrared is often more affordable. Each product page tells you which one you're looking at.
Infrared vs. traditional (steam) sauna — which should I choose?
Traditional saunas heat the air to high temperatures and let you add water for steam. Infrared saunas warm your body directly at lower air temperatures, which many people find more comfortable and quicker to start. It comes down to preference — we carry both.
Hemlock or cedar — does the wood matter?
Both are excellent, stable woods for saunas. Cedar has a distinctive aroma and natural moisture resistance, popular for outdoor units. Hemlock is smooth, sturdy, and often more budget-friendly. You can't go wrong either way.
Setup & Electrical
Do I need an electrician?
Most indoor infrared saunas plug into a standard household outlet (120V in North America) — truly plug-and-play. Larger and traditional saunas may need a dedicated circuit or 240V. The requirement is listed on every product page.
Is it hard to assemble?
Most cabins use a modular panel system and go together in 20–60 minutes with two people and no special tools. Guides are included, and our team can help if you get stuck.
How much space do I need?
It depends on the model — sizes and footprints are on each product page. We also offer compact corner and one-person options for small spaces.
What about EMF?
All Véll saunas use near-zero EMF carbon crystal heating panels, tested as low as 0.3mG — well below international safety guidelines. Exact figures are noted on each product page.
Health & Safety
Is a sauna safe for everyone?
Saunas are a wellness product, not a medical device. Most healthy adults can use them safely, but if you're pregnant, have a cardiovascular condition, or take medication that affects heat tolerance or blood pressure, check with your doctor before regular use.
